Taking on Challenges with a Mindset that Empowers You

Good morning, everyone. And welcome to the bed head chronicles. Today, I’m out here doing a two hour hard run with my athletes. And it’s sunny, it’s hot, it’s a very hilly route. What determines the experience in our lives is what we choose to focus on, the meaning we give things, and what we choose to do about it.
So, these athletes today can say “Oh my God! It’s a two-hour hard run. This is a disaster. It’s going to be so hard. It’s going to be so miserable.” But, no. They choose to focus on the fact that this is an incredible opportunity to get fitter, to get stronger, to get faster, to increase their pain threshold. Yes, it’s a hilly course. It’s gonna hurt. But instead of saying “Oh my God, it’s gonna hurt,” they say “wow! This is going to make me strong.” It’s hot out and they say, this is going to help me respond well in hot races.
Everything is an opportunity to these athletes. An opportunity to grow. An opportunity to get better. An opportunity to increase their pain threshold, get stronger, get tougher. So, how are you — what are you focusing on today? Are you focusing on what you have? Or what you don’t have? Are you focusing on what you want or what you don’t want? Are you focusing on what you don’t have control over? Or are you focusing on all that you have control over? Choose to focus on what you have, what you want, what you love, what you can control. And make it an amazing day.
Hey! You woke up this morning and I’d say that’s an ultimate gift. So make it an amazing day. And thank you for listening to the bed head chronicles.
